National Get Outdoors Day

Today is the second annual National Get Outdoors Day.

Participants from federal agencies, nonprofit organizations and the recreation industry are again teaming up to host the second annual National Get Outdoors Day (GO Day) to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun at sites across the nation. On Saturday, June 13, these diverse partners will offer opportunities for American families to experience traditional and non-traditional types of outdoor activities. Prime goals of the day are reaching currently underserved populations and first-time visitors to public lands, and reconnecting our youth to the great outdoors.

There are 62 locations around the country. Near Los Angeles is the Castaic Lake Recreation Area and the Big Bear Discovery Center. I've been water skiing many times at Castaic but only been to Big Bear for the snow in the past. Both are pretty awesome places.

If there isn't an event near you why not get out anyways? Go hiking, surfing, or just take a leisurely walk on a trail. I'll be golfing this morning and then hiking this afternoon and tomorrow. You won't catch me indoors on a weekend day.

You won't catch me indoors either. It is finally nice here! I've been out walking dogs, relaxing outside and biking.

The only reason I am indoors now is to watch the Lakers game!
