The Other Golfing Woods - Cheyenne Woods

When Tiger Woods broke out on the scene his niece, Cheyenne, was only in the first grade. She even received her first set of clubs from her grandfather - Earl Woods Sr. You may know him as Tiger's late father. When she was young, her mother would take her to practice at a park since she didn't realize what a driving range was.

Instead of staying on the West Coast, she is attending college at Wake Forest. Her teammates claim that she isn't affected at all by her famous name, but a really down to Earth person. I found it interesting that articles, the video, and the radio spot I heard about her yesterday on NPR made sure to note that. I pondered for a moment whether anyone would worry about her attitude if she was a nephew instead of a niece.

Fortunately, much attention is given to her game. She's got plenty of that. It seems to be in the DNA - drive, ambition, and the determination to win. I'm sure doors will open much easier for Cheyenne, but fortunately she's got the game to back it up. Perhaps she could give the LPGA the jolt that her uncle gave to golf in general.

I wish her the best. I'm sure she could really add to the LPGA.
