Being Corny Is Good For Your Health

Seriously, being corny/silly is good for you. Lately I have being making a concerted effort to lighten up. There really is no reason to get completely stressed out about things. I know, some folks like to dwell and believe they have a unique set of circumstances that is so much more terrible than the rest of us. Sure, we've all got issues. We've all had heartaches, disappointments, sadness, and even a tragedy or two. Unfortunately, that's part of life.

I'm just not going to let it weigh me down.

You shouldn't either.

At times, I feel a bit corny for reading things like Zen Habits or other words of encouragement. Honestly though, there is nothing wrong with reading a daily reminder or two that keeps you positive. In fact, I have a collection of motivational material on the wall right next to my desk. Whenever I feel like I need a refresher, I read some. Corny? So what.

I've made a serious commitment to good health and fitness this year. Mental well being is a big part of that.

Go ahead...act silly for a bit today...it's fun!

Have a great weekend!

P.S. For those of you that don't get it - today's video is one that I find motivating.

I have one of those "day brightener" things -- you know, a daily calendar with no year and a saying for each day -- that I like to use. Some days the thoughts are serious, like todays: "The end is not near. You must learn to cope." But I live for those great ones, like "The shortest distance between two points is under construction" or "The rain falls on the just and the unjust, but chiefly on the just, because the unjust steals the just's umbrella."

So here are a couple to help you lighten up today:

"If at first you do succeed -- try to hide your astonishment."

and:

"I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person."

Have a good day, Apryl! ;-)

Haha! I've used that "battle of wits" one before.

You have a great one also!

I hadn't heard the "battle of wits" one before. I wish I had. It's perfect.

Nothing hokey about being silly. It's a major stress reliever in my book.

You got that right! My game on Saturday stunk so bad that I just started being silly and all was well!

I read Zen Habits when I have time. Even though the posts seem to be the same info over and over again, I find it inspirational. My day usually goes better if I start out reading it because then I'm in a positive mindset.

You're right Lindsay, it does seem to say the same thing frequently but it is still motivating. I feel like if I read it enough different ways that some of the good ideas will stick with me.
