Wild World of Wednesday - August 19, 2009
Really? Brett Favre. Oh, Brett Favre. When I saw the first tweets yesterday about his signing with the Vikings I thought it was a joke. It wasn't. I'm really not sure what else to say about this. I know that many are over the whole circus sideshow that this has become.
Elsewhere in the NFL, Derrick Brooks is still looking for a team. I just don't understand how the Bucs would release an effective veteran like him. In addition, the fans LOVE him. I'm not so convinced that the new coach knows what's up. It should be an interesting season for them.
I Knew This Would Happen: Out of the 17 games the Dodgers have played this month they have won 7. It is getting closer to October, they wouldn't want to be playing during their scheduled time off or anything.

1962 - Homero Blancas plays finest round in golf, shooting a 55
* I actually had the honor of meeting Mr. Blancas in January at the PGA Merchandise Show. I grabbed a plate of hors d'overs and a drink, sat at the table where he was, and listened intently. He happily told stories of growing up with his groundskeeper father, shooting the historic round, and his secrets to the game. Yeah, pretty awesome.

Neat! Did he tell how it could have been a 54? or even lower?
He basically said that he took the round one shot at a time. His demeanor was quite laid back without arrogance and he was definitely an enthusiast of the game. Never once did he talk down to anyone or believe he had all the answers. It was pretty awesome!
Brett is my man, and even I am outraged. But I can understand where he's coming from. All he knows is football. Since he was 4 or 5 years old he's been playing football. What's he going to do once that is gone?
I'm a Packer backer and my sister is a Vikings fan. These two match-up's are going to be interesting. Heck, during those two games, I don't even know who I'm going to root for!
Wild World of Wednesday appeared to leave out the Little League Girls Softball Championships which took place last night. Southeast won. The LL Baseball from the Southeast also won it in 2007. The teams are from the same town, but the town name escapes me at the moment. This is the first time in the history of LL that there has been a World Series win for both the boys and the girls from the same town.
** Just a little bit of trivia. ;)
That's right! I can't believe I forgot that. Thanks Becky!
The town is Warner Robbins, GA
Thanks Becky! I have been really behind on many sports lately!
I am already sick of the Favre talk. Wait, I was sick of it a long time ago. And there is going to be a lot, lot more to come, especially since I'm only about 4 hrs from Minneapolis.
But OK, it would be fun to attend a vikings/ packer game this year.
That would be awesome to see - make sure you tell us about it if you go to one!
