Baseball: A woman was drafted to play professional baseball in Japan with the men as a pitcher. Her name is Eri Yoshida and she is only sixteen years old but throws a mean knuckleball! I am so excited about the possibilities here that I can’t even write about it! Okay MLB, you are out of excuses (actually, you've been out of excuses for a very long time)!
NFL: I just have to continue to point out that the Tennessee Titans are still undefeated. No one is making a big deal about it like the New England Patriots last year. They are quietly putting together one heck of a season. Remarkable. It just goes to show that any team can come up and win. No inflated payrolls or sneaky tactics. Good, old-fashioned football. I picked them to lose this past week in my pick ‘em pool since I was playing the odds. I mean seriously, to have a team go this long undefeated a season after a team won every game save for the Super Bowl has amazing odds against it. I would tell you the probability formula but I wouldn’t want to reveal just how much of a nerd I am. Other than that, I sink so bad at Fantasy Football this year that you would think this was the first time I played. Argh.

Baseball is out of excuses for not having women in the MLB. If there is a women who could seriously compete against the men, then give 'em a shot. I'm not much in to the minor leagues, but are there any women in the minors? And, if we want women in baseball, what about men who want to compete professionally in fast pitch softball? (profastpitch.com) I'm cool that men have baseball, and women have softball. I just wish that we had a womens softball team here in LA/OC, and that it got as much press that baseball did.
As for the Titans - yes, they NEED to lose on Sunday. They're playing against my boy Brett and the Jets need to stay atop of the AFC East! :) Plus my fantasy football could use the points!
Since the minor league is also dictated by the same body as MLB I don't believe there are any women. As for other semi-pro, I can't be sure - someone correct me if I am missing something. I have no problem with men in softball either. There are men's softball leagues around the country that are semi-pro but I don't recall a semi-pro coed. I know there are a ton of coed softball leagues that corporate types play.
Now I'm off to find a local women's softball team to cover...
Wow, the Jets and Titans - that will be a good game this weekend. I think I'll have to go with Brett on that one.
Honestly I never thought about a woman playing in the majors. Though I don't see why it couldn't be done. Damn only 16 she must have a hot arm. Maybe she will pitch in the Baseball World Cup ( sorry forgot what its called) Do you think the Lions will win a game? What's going to happen to Vince Young?

Yeah, she apparently really throws some heat.
I'm wondering when the Lions will win a game. Odds say they'll get at least one. As for Vince Young, I just read an article about him and Matt Leinart not living up to expectations in the NFL. Hopefully they both can get it together.

I remember when my brother was in little league, there was a girl pitcher on his team and she was better than all the boys. She played softball and baseball. Of course, that was 10 years ago, but even at her young age she set a good example for people of all ages.
Very cool! I've run into a few young ladies that pitched well against the fellas. For some reason at that grammar school age it is easier to have a girl amongst the guys - that is when I played with them!
