Sunday Sports Wrap - November 16, 2008

College Hoops: The NCAA college basketball season has started. Sports Illustrated had players from the women's and men's Dvision 1 leagues on the cover recently and the photo had mixed reactions. UConn is considered the hands-down number one for the women at this early point. North Carolina tops the men. The thing about college hoops - it matters who is still standing in March!

NBA: The season is really picking up and there are several games today. The Lakers finally lost a game and are at 7-1. You win some, you lose some.

I get caught up on all the day's games for mainstream sports on the USA Today page as I mentioned before.

Today in Sports History

1957
- Boston Celtics center Bill Russell sets an NBA record of 49 rebounds to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 111-89

1962 - Wilt Chamberlain of NBA's San Francisco Warriors scores 73 points vs the New York Knicks

I am with Because I Played Sports on that one. I was happy to see a man and woman on the cover. Not only that but I'm pretty sure she could kick his ass. But I can see Women's Sports Blog's point and I agree, the chick should've been holding the ball.

What'd you think?

I was also very happy to see a woman on the cover. As for her holding the ball there are two ways to look at it. I like the half-full glass version myself.
