Wild World of Wednesday - September 17, 2008

Okay, I’m going to be brief today...

Fantasy Football, NFL, and NCAA: Yes, I’m going to complain about Fantasy Football yet again. Carson Palmer is stinking up the place so bad that it’s absolutely killing me! What the heck is going on? How on Earth is John Kitna getting more points? Is this Bizarro season? While I’m complaining – what is up with that call that cost the Chargers the game? I mean, seriously...

I can laugh about the USC game though…bwah ha ha...the Pac 10 is finally getting the respect it deserves...

Speaking of tragic losses, I found this very funny site that lets you send e-cards to your friends with messages such as “I love when your QB completes so many passes to my team”.

MLB: The Dodgers are still ahead. My father and I agreed that this is nothing to be excited about yet. The Rays are exciting though – still a game ahead of the Red Sox and TEN ahead of the Yankees!

Premier League
: It is really too early in the standings to make many judgments. Chelsea and Liverpool are at the top for now.

Today in Sports History

1947 - Jackie Robinson is named Rookie of Year by The Sporting News

1961 – The Minnesota Vikings play their first NFL game and beat the Chicago Bears 37-13

1967 – The New Orleans Saints play in their first NFL game and lose to the Los Angeles Rams 27-13

It's interesting to me that some NFL teams have only been around since the '60s. That just doesn't seem like a very long time to me. What year did the NFL begin?

Well - if you go to the NFL website they have history that goes back to 1869. This is not THE NFL at that point but an interesting start.

Check it out:

And yeah, the 1960s wasn't so long ago as far as history goes...

Chargers coach was very professional, a lot of coaches would've been screaming their heads off and I wouldn't blame them. LT made some good points but Cutler came off prickish. If a ref or a ump makes a bad call and it goes your way, when you're interviewed you don't call the refs on the missed call they made in your favor. Instead you say something PC like I just play the game I let the refs make the calls. I hate that everyone is acting like it's not a big deal there are only 16 gms its not like baseball the Chargers could miss the playoffs because of that call.
The Cowboys Eagles Monday night game was so freakin good. One of my coworkers has McNabb and that rookie receiver who dropped the ball before he got into the end zone, on his Fantasy football team. He was pissed.
My poor Mets, this year I will not give up hope. We can and will win the East. Can you please tell me why the Dodgers signed Andrew Jones? Whoever did it didn't watch the Braves at all last year

Yeah - Norv Turner is always a professional. I agree with you about saying something PC also!

I have DeSean Jackson on my Fantasy team also but had him on the bench, fortunately. As you can tell from my whining, Carson Palmer is the one messing me up!

The Dodgers signed Andruw Jones because the ownership refuses to spend any money on real players that will perform for more than a year. I'm convinced that Chavez Ravine is baseball's retirement home. In addition, the owners don't care because for every frustrated fan such as myself, there are 10 more that will buy the ticket I don't want. They are only looking to squeeze every dime out of us and will barely pacify us. Can you tell I'm a little bitter?

Palmer lost some serious points with me after he dogged OSU fans, and no I am not an OSU fan, but he plays in Ohio now, and his fan base includes a lot of OSU fans. When I heard that rant I was like dude let that college sh*t go you're in the NFL now, if not keep it to yourself or just don't play for the team in Ohio. Can you drop Palmer? You should pick up whatever QB is playing against the Lions. The dodgers signed Andrew Jones to 3yr contract I believe. He was playing so bad I couldn't even watch. Its been awhile since a player has fallen like that, very sad.

Yeah - Palmer shouldn't go #2 where he eats! I can get rid of him but there is no one else out there. All of the other teams have gobbled up the good ones. I have Kitna as a backup and am starting him for week 3. I'll hold on to Palmer for another week or so before I dump him.

Thanks for that web site, by the way.
